If you're lost you can look and you will find me
Hay canciones que me gustan tanto que me encanta escucharlas una y otra vez, como si se tratara de un disco rayado.
El otro día, leyendo a Desconvencida, me acordé de una de ellas, una típica balada de los años 80 (cuyo título proviene del de una película de ciencia ficción) y una de las canciones más conocidas de Cyndi Lauper: Time after Time, escrita por ella misma junto con Rob Hyman y contenida en el disco She’s So Inusual (1983), considerado en 2003 por la revista Rolling Stone como uno de los 500 mejores albums de toda la historia. Desde esa fecha hasta la actualidad ha sido versionada por un centenar de artistas, lo que da idea de su popularidad.
Hoy he querido mostrar aquí varias interpretaciones llevadas a cabo por la propia Lauper en diferentes momentos; a continuación un par de dúos cantados por Cyndi junto a su adorada Patti Labelle; y, finalmente, algunas de las versiones realizadas por otros artistas que más me convencen.

Lo cierto es que Cyndi Lauper es una chica (ya no tan chica) que personalmente me cae muy bien y a la que musicalmente aprecio bastante. Me divierte y me emociona por igual. Quizá uno de los momentos en que más me conmueve "la pelos", y que me viene a la cabeza cada vez que pienso en ella, es su fugaz pero intensa aparición en el video de We are the world. Puro sentimiento.
